Private House, Hertfordshire

This Grade II* listed former farmhouse dates back to the 15th Century.  In 2016 it stood empty showing signs of significant structural and fabric damage. Freeland Rees Roberts Architects sensitively designed the restoration of this timber framed house to make it fit for 21st century accommodation, incorporating a new light and contemporary ground floor extension.

We carried out extensive timber frame and masonry structural repairs incorporating natural materials.  Lath and plaster were repaired  and new lime render was applied on breathable woodfibre insulation.  A new limecrete floor and underfloor heating was also installed.
